Alternative Education Program 

Curriculum

An INDIVIDUALIZED PLAN will be developed for each alternative school student.  The plan will include the following components:

Component 1:

The ACADEMIC component will offer scholastic development in the basic subjects in an interdisciplinary team environment.  Supportive, non-traditional approaches and schedules including individualized instruction, tutorial and computer assisted instruction based on individual learning styles and needs will be used with each student.

Grading Period and Reports:

    The grading period is once each nine weeks.  Interim Reports should be sent home every three weeks. 

Grading Scale:

The grade scale is set by the Cherokee County School Board of Trustees.

Component 2:

The CAREER DEVELOPMENT component will provide school-to-work and work study activities for all students.

Component 3:

The COUNSELING component will develop positive self-growth.  Life skills instruction will include citizenship, decision making, goal setting, communication, team building, and leadership skills. Individual, group, and family counseling will be provided.  

Child care may be provided through the parenting for preschoolers program.

State and District Programs

Students 17 years old and older may be referred to one of the following programs to secure a GED.
