An Open House to welcome Dr. Quincie Moore will be held on April 29 at 3:00 pm at Blacksburg High School.  Everyone is invited to come out, enjoy refreshments, and meet Cherokee County’s new superintendent.

Parent Lunch Day 

We have set aside the following dates and times as    

Parent Lunch Day. We invite you in to have lunch    

with your student at this time.  

 3rd grade: April 27    

4th grade: April 30    

5th grade: May 1    

Check your child’s lunch schedule for the time that    

their class goes to lunch.

Flossie’s Food Bank

Flossie’s Food Bank was started in November 2010 after a Boxer bulldog named Flossie was discovered nearly starved to death because her owners could not provide her an adequate amount of pet food.  To ensure this doesn’t happen to another pet, the Humane Society of Cherokee County needs help keeping a sustainable supply of pet food to give to those in our community who need it most.    

Our school is sponsoring this the entire month of FEBRUARY !!!!!!!!

1. To encourage donations, BES is providing a Pizza Party to the classroom who collects the most pounds overall.

2. The Humane Society of Cherokee County will be providing us with colorful posters to place in strategic locations in our school or classrooms (if you request one).  Weekly announcements will be made to remind students of the donation and to keep you posted of the weight and who is in the lead.  We will also include this in the school newsletter and website.

3. Students are encouraged to bring anything from one can to a large bag of dog or cat food—no donation is too small!

4. Humane Society volunteers will collect the donations and store or distribute them as needed to Meals on Wheels, Peachcenter Ministries, or at their storage facility.

A drawing of a dog bed and accessories and a cat bed and accessories will be offered for $1.00 per ticket. The money raised for the tickets will also be given to the Humane Society.

School Pictures will be made on Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday, August 31.

The following classes will have pictures made on August 30:  C Smith, Phenicie, Quinn, Moss, Hendershot, Whitaker, Greene, Clinton, Ham

These classes will have pictures made on August 31:  Comer, McRobie, D Smith, Allison, Jones, Dixon, Polston, Chisholm, Yeargin

We are clipping Box Tops and peeling labels again this year!  

Labels for Education and Box Tops for Education are fun and easy ways to help support Blacksburg Elementary School.  Look for Campell’s labels and BOX TOPS coupons throughout your grocery store on hundreds of participating products and send them to our school.  Last year, schools across America earned millions in money and merchandise from these programs!
