Our Community

Corinth Elementary School is situated in a rural setting, five miles from the city limits of Gaffney. Our school faculty and staff are proud to have the privilege of serving a very cooperative and caring community. Parents, grandparents, and community members volunteer and participate in school activities on a daily basis. Our community has played a major role in our achievements. Corinth Elementary School presently serves four hundred twenty students in 4K – 5 th grade. There are three teachers for every grade with the exception of 4K which has one teacher. Forty-eight percent of families in our school have four people in their household. Sixty percent of the families in our community are composed of the traditional family unit consisting of both parents. For the most part, the majority of our students live in homes in which the standard of living is very modest. Parents value and support our school.

According to a survey completed by parents, fifty-five percent reported being blue-collar workers, nineteen percent are professionals, sixteen percent are homemakers, and twelve percent listed their occupation in another classification (ex. Clerical, disabled, retired, student, and unemployed). Presently, fifty percent of our students are eating free or reduced lunch. Our ethnic make-up is primarily Caucasian. Corinth Elementary School is filled with wonderful students from a caring, supportive and yet varied community.
