Programs We are proud to introduce Corinth Elementary School’s extra curricular club offerings for the 2009-2010 school year. Our clubs offer many opportunities to explore new ideas and gain new knowledge and skills. Participation in our after school clubs will also provide students with the opportunity to better understand themselves, their unique talents, and the talents of others. As each club has different schedules meeting times, please be sure to check with the Administrative Offices for dismissal times and schedule changes. Also, please make sure that your child knows how he/she will be getting home. The National Beta Club recognizes, academic achievement, promotes character, develops leadership skills, encourages service involvement, and provides technological advantages to students in grades 5 - 12. The purpose of the National Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school To qualify for National Junior Beta Club, a student must be in the 5th grade and have an overall 4th grade average of 93. Members must maintain an average of at least 90 each nine weeks, as well as display good character and leadership skills. Members are also required to earn at least five service points during the school year. Service points may be earned by participating in school-based service projects, as well as by doing service projects on their own. Some of the service projects that Beta Club will participate in during the year include: Operation Christmas Child, sucker sales, school-wide Recycling Program, Reading Buddies, and the Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt. Beta Club sponsors are: Mrs. Blair, Mrs. Jollay, Mr. Horton, and Mrs. Blanton. Recycling Club Thanks to a grant from SCDHEC, we were able to purchase recycling bins for each classroom in our school building. Beta Club members are responsible for emptying the classroom bins each Friday. The Cherokee County Recycling Center picks up our materials to be recycled every week. We also collect empty inkjet, printer, and copier cartridges, as well as used cell phones, to be recycled. “Cartridges for Kids” pays our school for these items. Student Council Corinth Elementary School's Student Council is made up of 2 students from each class in grades 3-5. Members are responsible for our morning announcements and school store. Members also assist with events such as Red Ribbon Week, American Education Week, and Field Day. In addition, members participate in service projects, such as Operation Christmas Child and the Salvation Army's "Cans for Kids" food drive. Student Council sponsors are: Mrs. Blair, Mrs. Deaton, & Mrs. Propst. Reading Buddy Program
Corinth Elementary School works towards literacy in many ways. To compliment our reading program we will be continuing our Reading Buddies. During Reading Buddy time each month, older children pair up with younger children to share some favorite story books! The little ones love to showcase their ability to read as much as they love being read to. Older children have the opportunity to practice their fluency and expression.
Wee Deliver Post Office The purpose of the Wee Run Post Office is to increase student writing throughout the school while developing relationships between students, staff, parents, and community. It will benefit our community by serving as a place for parents to communicate with their children and staff at Corinth Elementary School. Students in grades 3-5 are encouraged to fill out a brief application, stating their qualifications. A committee of teachers selects a crew of Postal Workers after carefully reviewing each application. These student’s show responsibility and trustworthiness throughout the year. Parents and family members are encouraged to write their children using the addresses attached. (Birthdays and holidays will be especially popular times.) The Postal Workers will pick up and deliver mail every day. Mail will be picked up, taken to the conference room, stamped and then delivered. Packages will also be delivered for the office. The Wee Run Post Office will open on September 4. Wee Deliver Post Office Addresses Music Academy Good News Club
