Welcome to Gaffney Middle School! I am very honored to be serving my third year as your principal—the first two years have been great, and I fully anticipate that this year will be even better. Many of our staff members have been busy this summer getting things ready for our students’ return; we want to continue our focus on challenging all of our students to do their best in everything they do.
Our instructional focus for this year will be on bridging our curriculum with the new Common Core State Standards; this will be most evident as a deliberate emphasis on literacy across all subjects. Please know that your child will be challenged to excel at a level that is most appropriate to his / her academic potential. We believe that ALL children can, and will, learn!
GMS will also continue to offer a variety of opportunities for students to become involved in extra-curricular activities. We firmly believe that students perform better academically when they are connected to the school as a whole, and we encourage all of our students to become involved.
To our parents, we welcome the opportunity to work alongside you as we strive to meet your children’s needs. If we can be of assistance to you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us. We desire a strong partnership between school and home; when we accomplish this, all children can succeed.
Again, it is indeed my pleasure to be Gaffney Middle School’s principal—let’s all work together to make this an excellent school year.

ADDITONAL TDAP VACCINE INFORMATION:
Students receiving the Tdap vaccination at the Health Department will be charged a fee of $13.00. The Tdap is the only new immunization that will be required for 7th graders. If they get any other vaccines while they are there, the charge would be $13.00 for each additional vaccine given, but not more than a total of $39.00. Any student that has Medicaid, has no insurance, or has insurance that does not cover immunizations can get the vaccine at the health department. All they will need to do is make an appointment. The phone number for the Cherokee County Health Department is 864-487-2705. Students that have insurance that covers immunizations should make an appointment with their physician. If a parent isn’t sure if their insurance covers immunizations, they should contact their insurance company.
