Congratulations

Gaffney High Students headed back to Washington, DC for 2nd consecutive year... This will be the 2nd year in a row that students from George Duncan's U.S. History class at Gaffney High School have traveled to Washington, DC to participate in the National History Day contest. Last years group finished 11th in the nation overall.

Congratulations to Leighlan Fowler, Stephanie Agapion, and Mary Ann Huff on placing 2nd in the National History Day contest on Saturday April 13, at the National Bean Market Museum in Lake City, SC. These students are members of. Their project titled "A Recipe for Success: Ray Kroc's Legacy is about how the McDonalds restaurant and its founder has been a major turning point in history. By finishing in 2nd these students will be participating in the National Contest in Washington, DC on June 13th.

Five Gaffney High School seniors in George Duncan's Teacher Cadet Class have received $24,000 in scholarships to participate in Teaching Fellows programs offered through state universities.

Gaffney High students Ashley Minor, Greyson McCraw, Hannah Marcoux, Aaliyah Rainey, and Leala Grindstaff will receive scholarships worth $6,000 annually while they complete a degree leading to teacher certification.

McCraw will be will attending Anderson University, Marcoux will be attending Winthrop University, Minor will be attending Newberry, and Grindstaff will be attending the College of Charleston. Lee Goble was chosen as an alternate.

Congratulations to Zach Clary and Thomas Mabry of Gaffney High School on winning the AAAA State Individual Wrestling Championship in their respective weight class. Zach wrestled in the 106 pound weight class and Thomas weighed in at 160 pounds. Each had an outstanding undefeated season, boasting a record of 42-0. Great job guys. We are proud of you.

Congratulations to the Gaffney High School Varsity Football team and their coaches on winning the 2012 AAAA State Football Championship in Columbia on December 1. You are to be commended for your dedication and hard work during the season and bringing home the championship.
