Each spring, the Cherokee Reading Council provides an opportunity to celebrate our young writers in the form of a gala.  Teachers are asked to collect students’ writings throughout the year for consideration.  Once chosen, the students’ writings are published in an anthology along side the works of other exceptional writers from our district.  Along with our school winners, Owen Burchill, Rhiannon Owens, and Lucy Herrin were honored as district winners in their age and genre groups.  Our school is very proud of all of our writers, and we hope to continue to see each one grow in their ability and love of writing.

Congratulations to:

  • Owen Burchill – 1st Place District Winner, Prose Grades 2 – 3
  • Lucy Herrin – 2nd Place District Winner, Grades 4 – 5
  • Rhiannon Owens – 1st Place District Winner, Grades 4 – 5
