4th Grade Visits the Battlefield

Fourth grade students attended two field trips this school year. The first, to Cowpens National Battlefield, was taken on Friday, March 16. Students watched a short video about the battle that took place during the Revolutionary War and then toured the grounds. Our guide was very informative and interesting.

On Friday, May 4, students visited Walnut Grove Plantation. They toured the plantation house and its grounds. They were able to ask questions about the era. They also made hand dipped candles in the fashion that people of the time period would have made. Both of these trips were valuable because they correlated with the fourth grade state standards for social studies.
