Cans for Kids Food Drive

We would like to congratulate Mrs. Cathy Parker’s Class for winning the Cans for Kids food drive which was held in December. Mrs. Cathy Parker’s class brought a total of 215 canned items. They will get to enjoy a pizza party. Thanks to everyone that participated in this worthy cause to provide food for needy families in Cherokee County during the holiday season.

2012-13 LCES Honors Choir

The LCES Honors Choir did an outstanding job singing at the annual “Christmas on Limestone” on November 30th.

The LCES Honors Choir will be traveling on December 17th to perform at various locations in Cherokee County. They will be peforming at the Prime Outlet Mall, Magnolia’s, Peach Tree Center, and the Gaffney Senior Center.

We are very proud of all the time and practice that these students have invested in the LCES Honors Choir. They are doing a great job! Keep up the hard work. We would also like to thank Mrs. Rhyne for all her hard work and dedication in making the music department at LCES a big success.

Santa Shop

Our school will be hosting a Santa Shop. Prices will range from 50 cents to $7.50 this year. Each grade level is scheduled a day to attend. All students will have an opportunity to visit the Santa Shop on Friday and Monday. Listed below is the Santa Shop Schedule:

  • Tuesday, December 11th : Kindergarten and Grade 5
  • Wednesday, December 12th: Grades 1 and 4
  • Thursday, December 13th : Grades 2 and 3
  • Friday, December 14th: All Grades
  • Monday, December 17th: All Grades

Canned Food Drive

We will be collecting cans for needy families in Cherokee County. These cans will be distributed to various organizations in town that help families during the holiday season. We will collect cans until December 14th. The class that collects the most items will receive a pizza party. Please do your part to help your class win!

Odyssey of the Mind

We would like to congratulate the following students for making the Odyssey of the Mind Team for the 2012-2013 school year:

Anna Owens, Bailey Jolly, Lucy Herrin, Naomi Bolden, and Ansleigh Touchberry.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

Our team will be competing in Charleston, SC during the month of March. Stay tuned!

Volunteer Opportunity

PTO Corner

Thank you to all the parents that came out for the PTO meeting and Veterans Day program! Ms. Shawn Casey gave a report on what has been accomplished this year and future plans. Mrs. Amy Crotzer, treasurer, provided a financial report.

Please mark your calendars! We are having a “Holiday Family Night” on Tuesday, December 11th. PTO will partner with Mrs. Rhyne and have a night filled with your child/children singing Christmas carols, we will have a room for children to make an ornament, hot chocolate and cookies, opportunity to write letters to Santa and much more! This night will also include a raffle, bake sale and maybe a visit from Santa Claus himself! We will need your help! If you have wanted to get plugged into helping at LCES this is a great opportunity! Last but not least, PTO would like to thank SubStation II and Brett’s, two local businesses. PTO served chef salads from SubStation II and mini cupcakes from Brett’s to the staff on Friday to celebrate American Education Week. Smitty Cook and Brett McBee made it affordable since we are a school organization and wanted to honor the hard work of the LCES staff! Thank You!
